by Miriam Pons

I’m Miriam and I started the LA GATA MAULA project in 2007, driven by the need for a radical change in the way I live, organize my time and stay true to my values. The beginnings were inspired by Ibiza, an island I have long felt connected to. The free spirit of the island combined with the urban life of Barcelona, a city close to where I live, shaped the style that defines the brand. Comfortable, timeless and personal clothing, created through an artisanal process with a free and urban spirit.

THE PROCESS

This is how I make every piece.

From the first sketch to the package that reaches your hands, everything goes through me.

Miriam, fundadora de La Gata Maula

I am an artisan and I do not produce large quantities; they are small series, carefully made with dedication and care.

    DESIGN

The entire creative process, from the first ideas and pattern making to fabric cutting and finishing, is done personally in my workshop.

  2. 02

    MAKING

The garments are sewn in a small nearby workshop. We agree on timings and prices and work as a team based on trust.

  3. 03

    MATERIALS

I pay attention to the origin and composition of fabrics, especially when they are recycled, and I work with local manufacturers I know and fully trust.

  4. 04

    PRODUCTION

Every piece goes through a final check before leaving the workshop, so it reaches you exactly as I imagined it.

FOR SUSTAINABLE, ETHICAL AND ARTISAN CLOTHING.

This system allows me to create ethical and sustainable garments, respecting everyone’s time and without any human or animal exploitation.

Some sectors of the fashion industry still exploit, pollute and mistreat in order to meet deadlines or prices. We need to rethink how this system works, a capitalist system where money is valued more than any life. Let’s reflect, be critical and find out who makes your clothes, how and where.

THE WORKSHOP

More than a space, it's where it all happens.

The space, the disconnection, the chaos, the joy, sharing, solitude, company, stress, calm, noise, silence, working, thinking, making and undoing… All I can say is that I love that mixture.

I share the workshop with a friend and fellow artist. We have worked side by side for several years and the space has become a place we truly live in. We spend many hours there, share many conversations and there is a harmony that makes it a place of comfort.

In the workshop every garment is born:

the idea, the first tests,
the patterns, grading,
cutting, labelling and
preparing the packages.

There is also a small showroom space you can visit. If you would like to arrange a visit, it will be a pleasure. Send me an email or WhatsApp and we will arrange a day and time.
